Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Diesel / Plant Fitter to join our Major Repairs Department in Sheffield.
This role is specifically suited to an experienced mechanic or fitter with a background working on diesel-powered plant, heavy machinery, access equipment, agricultural machinery, HGVs, or similar equipment.
1 Up Access is a leading supplier of access equipment, operating a modern fleet of industry-leading machines across the UK. Our Major Repairs Department is based within our 10,000 sq ft fully equipped workshop in Sheffield, where we carry out major repairs, component replacements, refurbishment, and extensive mechanical work on our fleet.
You will work as part of our Major Repairs team, assisting with the diagnosis, repair, strip-down, refurbishment, and rebuild of access equipment and major mechanical components.
Assist with major repairs and mechanical overhauls on access equipment
Diagnose and repair diesel engine and mechanical faults
Strip, inspect, repair, and rebuild major components
Work on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical components
Assist with major component replacements and refurbishment
Carry out preventative maintenance and repairs
Fault-find and diagnose mechanical issues
Work alongside experienced engineers within our Major Repairs Department
Complete repair documentation and paperwork accurately
Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard of safety and quality
We are specifically looking for someone with relevant diesel, plant, or heavy machinery experience.

You should have:
Strong diesel engine and mechanical knowledge
Experience working on plant, heavy machinery, or similar equipment
Good mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Knowledge of hydraulic systems would be advantageous
A strong work ethic and attention to detail
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
A commitment to high standards of workmanship and safety
